Here is another incredible place we visited - Zion National Park. I guess you can describe it as visiting a place similar to the Grand Canyon, but looking at it up from the canyon floor instead of looking from the top down.
Even though there was historical flooding (3rd worst since they recorded stuff), the park was only closed for 5 hours on the day we got there. We were lucky to escape any problems with the rain - I-15 further south toward Las Vegas was closed for days. You could tell that something happened, the roads in the park had lots of sediment on them, and the Virgin River was a torrent even the next day. Luckily, it only took 5 days to go from the peak of 4000 cu ft/sec to 40, so we could do the Narrows Hike, which is/was a Bucket List Item for Sue.
We also visited Kolub Canyon (technically part of Zion), Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, and Cedar Breaks National Monument.
