We crossed the mountains from Borrego Springs to get to San Diego, which has one of the best climates on earth. Well, we didn't exactly cross the mountains, we skirted them on the southern end on I-10 to bypass the winding mountain roads. The grades were doable.

Anyway, San Diego is beautiful, and our campground was right on Mission Bay and 10 minutes from Sea World. There are extensive biking and walking trails in the adjacent park and in the area. And we could bike to the ocean. Talk about location, location, location!

Of course we went to the world famous San Diego Zoo (great) and Sea World. We went to Balboa Park, visited the sea lions and seals in La Jolla, walked along the harbor, saw the old lighthouse at Cabrillo National Monument, and hiked in Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. We had a barbecue with an old friend of mine from High School and his wife who drove down from Long Beach. We sat on the beach and enjoyed the sunset over the ocean, and did a lot of biking.

We moved the motorhome to Santee Lakes for a couple of days and enjoyed the nature walks there. We also visited Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, with my high school friend giving us the grand tour.

All in all, a busy month!!

Just a warning, the Zoo and Sea World albums have lots of video.
