After the week in Vegas, we drove south through the Mojave National Preserve, a very interesting drive, as usual, with volcanic cones and Joshua Trees, to Joshua Tree National Park. We only stayed 3 nights, but we did a lot of hiking and driving in the 2 full days. Besides the obvious Joshua Trees, there was plenty of interesting geology and desert plant life, and a great lookout point into the valley that contains Palm Springs and the 100 or so golf courses and the San Andreas Fault.
