We spent 5 nights in Buffalo, WY, at the base of the Big Horn Mountains. There was a nice hiking/biking trail, Clear Creek Trail, that started near the campground went through the town and headed out into the forest in the Big Horns. Also, US 16 (which also runs through the Black Hills) runs through the Big Horn Mountain Range offering some nice close-up views of the snow covered peaks. There is also a nice museum (Gatchell) that details the growth of the area, and an old hotel (Occidental Hotel) that still operates and has 2 restaurants, but serves also as a museum of sorts.
