Badlands National Park and the surrounding area is one unique place. We did the loop road a couple of times, mostly to see more wildlife, and we drove a gravel road, Sage Creek Rim Road, twice to see the buffalo, pronghorn and prairie dogs, and the burrowing owl. Our campground even had wildlife viewing opportunities, especially the owls across the street, and some sunsets were gorgeous. And there was the incessant hooting of mourning doves and the gobble-gobble of wild turkeys. And the stars in the night sky were incredible. Horizon-to-horizon.
